August 4, 1920 (Game 40)

 Baltimore 5 - Newark 1
What started as a pitchers duel devolved into a home run derby, with Baltimore hitting three in their final two innings to pull away.

Providence 3 - Washington 1
A Jeff Passe home run (6) in the top of the 6th put the Commodores on top for good and help Jeff Ashworth earn his first win of the season (1-3).  At the 40th game of season, Washington is guaranteed a losing record for this season.

Boston 4 - Philadelphia 3
Charlie Daniels (2-0) blew a long save opportunity, but Boston rallied back to win.  Starter Ed McDonough (1) homered for the Clippers and Tom Ryder (5) did as well for the Yellowjackets.  James Burke earned his first save of the season in relief of Daniels.

New York 8 - Pittsburgh 2
Tern Stauffer batted 2-for-3 with two home runs (3,4), including a grand slam, and 5 RBIs as the Knights routed the Pirates.   Stauffer's 1st inning grand slam, followed by a three-run shot  by Gabriel (4), and his 2nd, a solo shot, was enough to chase starter Red Fisher (3-3), and enough of a cushion to let Thomas Weitlich earn his league-leading seventh win of the season (7-2).
