Steven Hines (2) hit a grand slam in the 1st inning, and starter Leo Yazinski (3-2)pitched through a complete game for the Knights win.  

Boston 6 - Providence 1 

Ed Callahan returned to the top of the Clipper line-up with a lead-off homer (5), added a triple, and 2 rbis overall as Boston split the series with the Commodores. 

Newark 3 - Washington 0 

Charlie Sweeney (2-2) threw a four hit shutout as Newark kept within arm's reach of Pittsburgh and first place.
