Socks Seybold (2-1) did his best to spread out all eight hits he allowed among all nine innings for his complete game victory.  

Newark 6 - Washington 3

Tim Murnane and Paul Zerbe hit two home runs apiece, and Charles Reilley hit one, as the Eagles overcame an late push by the Statesmen to close out the first half of the season.
