Pete Murphy pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing one run on six hits as the Yellowjackets extended their winning streak to six games. Charlie Dougherty pitched the remain 1 2/3 innings for his third save.
Providence 8 - Boston 5
The Commodores rallied to score three runs in the 9th, then scored three more runs in the 11th to prevail over the Clippers. Dobie Lutcher and Les Wentzel hit back-to-back homers to tie the game up, then Jeff Passe hit a solo shot in the 11th to take the lead and further hits drove in the insurance runs. Reliever Nick Evans improved his record to 3-1 with the final two innings. Outfielder Kid Butler went 5-for-6 with a home run and a double, driving in three RBI in the losing effort.
Newark 4 - Washington 3
The Eagles and Statesmen decided to play a doubleheader that wasn't on the schedule. Both teams exhausted their bullpens for an 18-inning game decided on Eddie Rach's solo home run. The loss was Washington's tenth in a row, and dropped them into sole possession of the Federal League cellar at 4-11.
