May 1, 1920 (Game 9)

Baltimore 4 - Providence 3 
Ed Reneau and Davey Nemec each hit solo home runs to ignite just enough offense for the Canaries win over the Commodores.   James Kearns earned his second win, allowing two run, and spreading five hits and three walks in six innings.  Hal McKnight pitched the final three innings, allowing one additional run, to earn his third save of the season.  Providence shortstop Dobie Lutcher hit a double and solo homer.

Newark 5 - Philadelphia 3
Newark Player-Manager Tim Murnane hits fourth straight home run in as many games, and the Eagles rallied behind Bill McKechnie to defeat the Yellowjackets.  

Pittsburgh 1 - Washington 0
Another great pitchers duel at Exposition Park.  Mike Menosky allowed three hits and struck out 8 in a complete game shutout of the Statesmen.  Hornet outfielder Matthew Broderick drove in the only run, after a Sam Hope Triple.   Washington starter Bill Wise gave up one run on seven hits for the lss.
Pittsburgh

New York  4  - Boston 3
Kid Butler started the game with a lead-off home run, but it was New York Knight small-ball and taking advantage of Clipper miscues to allow them the win.   New York's teen phenom Christopher Henne has been as advertised this season, with an ERA of 1.29 and 10 strikeouts, but Manager Ray Knepp has him on a "pitch count" and in both starts this season has been pulled earning a No Decision.  Aaron Kreader picked up the win for New York, while James Burke was credited with the Boston loss.  Lou Rinaldi earned his second Save of the season.
