Opening Day 1920 (Game 1)

Washington 2 - Baltimore 1
A wild Daily for Washington limited Baltimore to only one run over six innings.  However it was some late walks during the later part of the battery which forced Manager Gregory Shambach to subsititue Lawlon for 2 innings and Olin 1 for his first save of the season.

McBride only suffered a difficult 3rd, surrendering a home run to Washington First Baseman Albert, allowing a single by the pitcher Daly, followed by a deep double from outfielder James Halpin.  McBride was able to complete the game, giving up five hits, three walks, and striking out four.

Reneau's double in the fifth drove in Kramer and Baltimore's only run.

Kleiban was able to get on base three times for Baltimore, but Fulmer only allowed one stolen base, keeping him honest the remainder of the game.  Regardless of his base position, his teammates were unable to bring him home.

Boston 6 - Newark 1
Johnson war 4-for-4, including two home runs, to spoils the home debut of the Newark Eagles.
Boston pitcher Johnson threw a complete game, spreading out five hits among the innings, while whiffing five.

While most of Boston's offense against Cattanch and Baker was legitimate skill, the Newark defense was nervous performing in front of sold-out crowd, committing six errors. CF Rauch misplayed two fly balls, and Slattery was a mess at short, committing three of the errors, and being force to make some forced throws during the game which luckily did not got errant.  Thanks to Cattanch's intriguing pitches which entice the batters to make contact, these errors only resulted in two unearned runs.

New York 11 - Providence 6
Knight hitter capitalized on poor Commodore pitching, with sixteen hits and each starter getting at least one hit in the trouncing of Providence.

Providence pitcher Remally barely lasted the recorded four innings, coughing up a three-run homer to the opposing pitcher Graham, followed immediately by a solo shot by centerfielder Klopf.

Most of Providence's run support came from a Danbury three-run-homer in the bottom of the 8th, but the game was already well out of reach.

Pittsburgh 2 - Philadelphia 1
Pittsburgh First Basemen Bugs Raymond travel issues continue, and he was unavailable for the game, but the first game of this series, nicknamed the "Battle of the Bugs" the Yellowjackets and Hornets spent all their run producing offense in the first two innings, with Pittsburgh hurler Clarke credited with the complete game win.

Home runs by Dasher of Pittsburgh, and Koons from Philadelphia during their respective rows in the 1st inning proved to be most of the offense in the game.  A Freeman single scoring Cronin was all the  offensive the Yellowjackets could muster.
