April 28, 1920 (Game 8)

Providence 6 - Baltimore 5
Les Wentzell doubled in the bottom of the 8th and scored on a David Nemec throwing error to give Providence their third win of the season.  Nick Evans pitched a perfect 8th to earn his second win of the season and Stanley Davis threw a perfect 9th for his second save.

Newark 7 - Philadelphia 3  (10 innings)
Pat Scanlon hit a grand slam during the top of the 10th inning to give the Eagles the edge over the Yellowjackets.   It appeared that Philadelphia would take the momentum in extra innings with George Daisy and Fred Lewis hitting back-to-back triples as the Yellowjackets tied in the bottom of the 9th, but Lewis was stranded on third.

Pittsburgh 1 - Washington 0
An excellent pitchers duel could only be finished one way: by the pitchers themselves.  Two outs in the bottom of the 8th, Hornet starter Jack Lewis hit a home run into the left field stands, which was the only score of the contest   Lewis and Washington's Alex Voss combined to allow nine total hits, two walks, and eleven strikeouts.   Jim Halpin hit two doubles for the Statesmen, but could not advance any further around the basepaths.

Boston 2 - New York 1
New York hurler Thomas Weitlich pitched a brilliant game, until he gave up back to back home runs to a
Tommy McCarthy and Kid Butler to give the Clippers the lead and ultimate win.  Boston pitcher Big Jeff Pfeffer's only flaw was issuing five walks in his 6 1/3 innings.  Wayne Breaux pitch 1 2/3 innings to pick up the win, and Charlie Daniels pitched the 9th for his first save of the season.
