April 13, 1920 (Game 3)

Washington 4 - Baltimore 1
Despite inaccurate pitching resulting in 14 walks between the teams, the offense was minimal in Washington DC.    Alex Voss pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing 3 hits and giving up 7 runs.   Frank Olin finished the game for his second save of the season and Washington's sweep of the series.

Boston 6 - Newark 2
Ed Callahan's lead-off home run began a barrage of hits that chased Eagles hurler CV Matteson before three innings were completed.  Veteran third baseman Bill McKechnie committed his third error in as many games, to start the season. Boston Pitcher "Steady" Jim Stanley scattered seven hits for a complete game win

New York 5 - Providence 4
Larry Duttinger hit two home runs in an emergency catcher, which was enough to beat Providence and sweep the opening series.   Duttinger, a left-handed batting and throwing utility outfielder, was placed behind the plate after neither of the duo of Arne Fix and Steven Hines were able catch for unknown reasons.  Neither player was sitting in the dugout at any point during the game.  Lester Wetzell's 2-run double in the third inning gave the Commodores their first lead of the season, but the first of the Duttinger 2-run blasts followed during the top of the 4th.  Thomas Weitlich spread five hits and five walks over six innings to qualify for the win, and Lou Rinaldi pitched a perfect 9th for his first save.

Pittsburgh  5  - Philadelphia 1
The belated but eventual arrival of Mexican League star Bugs Raymond was overshadowed by Hornet Ben Taylor's grand slam to provide all the runs Pittsburgh would need to defeat the Yellowjackets.  Raymond has been delayed from joining with his team through spring training and the first two games of the season.  He did double and drive in the fifth and final run of the fifth inning, after Taylor's slam.  Jack Lewis threw a complete game win, continuing to show the dominance of Pittsburgh's rotation, allowing only four total runs in the entire series.
