Baltimore 4 - Philadelphia 0 
Dick McBride helped his own cause, going 2-for-3 with an RBI double, plus throwing six scoreless innings to earn his first win of the season (1-4).  Charlie Manlove (5-3) threw his sixth complete game of the season in the loss. 

Pittsburgh 4 - Providence 1 
Jack Lewis won his 8th game of the season with a line-up including a bunch of bench players, as the Hornets inch closer to the pennant.  Bert Blue took over the lead-off spot from Ben Taylor, who alongside Jerry Freeman, were benched in today's game due to 'disciplinary reasons', and proceeded to hit a lead-off homer (3).   Joe Delahanty, taking over short from Freeman also hit an insurance home run in the 7th (3).  William Danbury's solo shot (2) was the only run for the Commodores.

Newark 2 - New York 1
Bill McKechnie went 2-for-3, driving in both runs for the Eagles, as they took over sole possession of 2nd place.

Washington 7 - Boston 6
The Clippers jumped on Statesmen starter Alex Voss early, but the Statesmen rallied in the 8th, capped by John Deasley's two-run homer (5) for their first sweep of a series since the opening season series with Baltimore.   Ed McKenna (1-0) earned the win in relief, and Boston closer Charlie Daniels (2-1) blew his extended save attempt for his first loss of the season.

PITTSBURGH'S MAGIC NUMBER IS 4!
