Notes
  • The Washington Statesmen play was so futile during their losing streak that they were shut out for 29 consecutive innings. gave up three straight doubles on three straight pitches (all fastballs) to the same area of outfield. In the inning the streak was snapped, their two worst hitting players hit home runs and those were two out of the three total hits they registered for the game.
  • Game 18 - In the same game, Washington allowed back-to-back-to-back doubles on three straight pitches (all fastballs) to the same area of the field.  They also gained the inglorious distinction of sending a running on third base on a 3-2 count, but the batter didn't swing, so despite earning a walk, the runner was thrown out at home plate, ending the inning.  (Runner was not forced to advanced during walk.)  Washington manager Greg Shambach seems to have no idea what he's doing, the players are responding negatively to the streak, if at all, and Shambach may not make it to the Summer All-Star Break.   Even rumors circulating the league office name the Statesmen the worst of the eight franchises, and the first option to transfer ownership, relocate, or if a second team has issues, retraction.
  • Post Game 20 - Tom Evers holds a press conference with the traveling press on the Pullman car travelling from Philadelphia back to Washington D.C. to announce his second retirement from baseball.  He claims to have significantly re-aggravated an old shoulder injury and team doctors advise he miss the entirety of the season to recover.  Evers was batting .300 with 2 HRs and 3 RBI in 13 games.  He had not committed an error all season.
  • Pre-Game 21 - Washington Management announce the firing of Manager Greg Shambach, who oversaw the worst record and worst losing streak of the Federal League's first twenty game (6-14).   Injured and recently retired 2b Tom Evers has been named manager.  Veteran 1B Gus Albert has been optioned for assignment, and Evers announces a new line-up of C-Joe Gunson, 1B-Jim Halpin, 2B-Jim Green, SS-John Deasley, 3B-John Kimmich, LF-Doug Christie, CF-Al Bradley, and RF-Bill Spring.  Only Deasley and Bradley are holdovers at their same position, and Halpin has been moved to 1B due to errors in the outfield.  No changes to pitching staff, which has a 2.14 ERA despite the horrible record.
  • Newark Player-Manager 1b Tim Murnane already has two 6-game hitting streaks.
  • Charlie Malay required 12 games and 46 total at-bats to drive in his first RBI. (Game 16) He then drove in 3 rbis in the next game.
  • Pittsburgh Starter Jack Lewis has thrown a complete game in each of his first four starts.
  • The player leading the Philadelphia Yellowjackets in Slugging Percentage is starting pitcher Peter Murphy (.875). He's currently 3-fo-8 with two doubles and a triple (which is also leading the team in batting average by 42 points over 2nd place).
  • Washington has only had two losing streaks in the first 20 games.  Unfortunately, their lengths were 1 game and 13 games.
  • Boston recent addition Clarence Dow already shares the team lead for walks after seven games with the Clippers
  • Underperforming outfielder Tern Stauffer has been recalled by New York to replace his replacement, Mike Curtis.  Curtis showed some versatility, playing both 1B and Outfield, but if his abysmal 1-for-14 (.071) at the plate, it was his three errors (2 OF/1B) that may have sealed the deal for the 31-year old
  • With the injury to SP Dick McBride, Baltimore has elected not to replace him, but rely on the four starters and five relievers through the mid-season break.  Manager Willy Weaver is the first manager to begin reorganizing their roster, waiving Rudy Haerle (OF) and Cal McVey for assignment, and placing back-up catcher Ross Barnes on the Injury List through the end of the season.   They have signed two experienced semi-pro players for the outfield, a back-up catcher, and Joe Maldondao, the first Cuban-born player in the league.  Like Bugs Raymond in Pittsburgh, his arrival to the league is not set in stone, but his roster spot apparently is.
