Charlie Malay hit 4-for-5 with 3 rbis, and Sam Hope went 3-for-3 with a solo shot (2) to put the Hornets over the Clippers. Pittsburgh starter Joe Houser (3-0) was chased after the fifth inning, but the Hornets rallied, giving him the win.
The Statesmen futility continues as they dropped their 12th straight game. John Murphy (3-0) pitched eight innings for the win, while Charlie Dougherty pitched a perfect ninth with three strikeouts for the save (3). Charlie Fulmer (1) and Dave Drew (2) hit home runs in the 8th for the Yellowjackets.

In a pitchers' duel where both starters threw complete game three hitters, Carl Chase's sacrifice drove in Les Wentzell as the only run scored. Gil Johnson (1-3) was credited with the shutout and his first win of the season versus Charlie Sweeney (1-2)
